What is a Connector?

Connectors are said by author Malcolm Gladwell to be people in a community who know large numbers of people and who are in the habit of making introductions. The Law of the Few", or, as Gladwell states, "The success of any kind of social epidemic is heavily dependent on the involvement of people with a particular and rare set of social gifts."  Connectors are the people who "link us up with the world ... people with a special gift for bringing the world together." They are "a handful of people with a knack of making friends and acquaintances". He characterizes these individuals as having social networks of over one hundred people.  Gladwell attributes the social success of Connectors to "their ability to span many different worlds, a function of something intrinsic to their personality, some combination of curiosity, self-confidence, sociability, and energy."

Gladwell popularized the term connector in his 2000 book The Tipping Point as those people who have a wide network of casual acquaintances by whom they are trusted, often a network that crosses many social boundaries and groups.

I've been a connector all my life. So at this time of my life I'm going to concentrate on doing just that. I'm going to promote the artists and musicians that have become a part of my life to help them succeed in their chosen field as much as I can by connecting them to others.
